How to apply for credit card

If you are looking to apply for credit card for the first time, the process can seem daunting.

But with a little patience and organisation, you will soon find that filling out the application is straightforward and won’t even take very long.

The first thing to do is get hold of any documents you will need to fill out the application. Normally, this means you need to provide: your gross annual income, details of your employer, details of your home value, outstanding loan amounts, savings and cheque account details, and information about any other assets or investments.

You will need to be at least eighteen years old to apply for most cards, although there are some that will allow you to apply if you are sixteen years old.

In Australia, you will need to be permanent Australian resident or have a current Australian visitors visa in order to apply.

If you are applying through a bank, you will also need to create a bank account to. This means you will need to follow the normal account setup process, and will have to provide a certain number of points of identification. Normally this means either a driver’s license or passport and two other documents (birth certificate, pension card, council rates or utility bill).
